Montgomery Release Processing Route
Montgomery Correctional Center is operated by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office as a county institution. JSO uses the word “prison” for Montgomery, but it is not part of the Florida Department of Corrections. It houses county-sentenced people and some sentenced men and women within the Duval corrections system. That local naming distinction decides where to search.
JSO says sentenced people from Montgomery are transported to the jail for release. The physical departure may therefore occur at John E. Goode rather than at Montgomery. The final Released event remains in the shared JSO inmate-information system. Call the facility and Jail/Inmate Information before travel because a projected end date does not prove the move to Goode or final processing has occurred.
A transfer to FDC is different. It ends the Montgomery placement and begins state custody. The person has not returned to the community merely because Montgomery no longer houses them. Use the state search only when the JSO or court history shows a state commitment or a DC number.
Confirm Montgomery Center Releases
The JSO historical search is the primary release-confirmation route. It covers current and past county bookings. Search by Jail Number or JSO ID when either is known because the number narrows the result more reliably than name alone. Otherwise compare the full name, age, booking date, charges, case number, sentence information, and facility history.
- Open JSO Search by Number for a known Jail Number or JSO ID, or use Search by Name and clear the active-only filter.
- Select the correct Montgomery custody episode. Do not merge separate bookings for the same person.
- Read the actual Released field. Expected Released Date and Tentative EOS are future estimates.
- Check whether the record, court case, or hold points to FDC, another county, federal custody, or another receiving authority.
- Use Duval CORE to find the sentence, time-served calculation, transfer order, or other legal event.
- Call JSO or request the release disposition if the final location or manner of exit is unclear.

Montgomery Is Not FDC Custody
The facility's name can cause a major search error. Montgomery Correctional Center is a JSO county site. An ordinary Montgomery sentence and release do not belong in FDC Inmate Release Information. FDC expressly excludes county-jail inmates and county-only supervision from the state database.
Move to FDC only after a court sentence or JSO record shows a transfer to Florida state prison, or when the person has a DC number. Then use FDC's current population during confinement and Inmate Release Information for an actual or scheduled state release. A state “Current Release Date” is prospective while a person remains incarcerated. It is not the final Montgomery Released event.
The shared county route is why a sentenced person can move from Montgomery to Goode without entering state prison. The transfer between two JSO institutions supports local release processing. It does not create an FDC custody episode.
Montgomery Release Contact Details
Use Montgomery contacts for current placement, movement, and property questions. Use Goode Jail/Inmate Information to verify the final county release event when the person has been transported there. JSO does not publish a guaranteed release hour or a fixed family waiting point.
Lobby property pickup at Montgomery is limited to money and keys. Confirm current instructions with the property room before travel. The published limit does not establish that other belongings are available through the lobby.
Montgomery Release Dates Explained
JSO fields separate a forecast from a completed event. Expected Released Date can be a lead for a county sentence, and the Tentative EOS Report lists possible end-of-sentence events in the next 30 days. Neither shows that the person was moved to Goode, cleared, and released. The booking must change to Released before the public record confirms the exit.

JSO does not publish the historical system's exact refresh schedule or a guaranteed retention period. If a result is missing or delayed, use the phone and records-request fallback rather than guessing.
After Montgomery Release Processing
Physical release does not always end the Duval case or all supervision. CORE may show probation, community control, later violation allegations, or a termination event. An old charge or financial balance alone does not prove current custody. Match the court status to the same case number used in the JSO booking and preserve the date of each event.
State-supervised felony probation or a post-prison supervision term can appear in FDC Supervised Population. That search is separate from FDC prison release information. A county misdemeanor supervision order follows the local route identified in the Duval court record, not the state inmate database. Electronic monitoring can also continue after a physical exit when ordered. None of those later statuses supplies the minute when JSO recorded release.
Florida VINE may send a custody-change alert for a supported record. Treat it as a notice and confirm the event in JSO history. When sources disagree, keep the exact status and identifier from each. Prefer JSO for the county exit, CORE for the legal order, and the receiving system for any transfer. A missing active result, by itself, proves only that the person was not found in that current view.
Request Montgomery Release Records
The JSO Public Records Unit handles county Arrest & Booking reports and release records. Submit the request through the official public-records page, call 904-630-2209, mail the unit at 501 E. Bay Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202, or visit a listed office. Give the full legal name, JSO ID or Jail Number, booking or admission date, and a narrow date range.
Ask for the actual release date and time, the recorded manner or disposition, and the receiving agency or destination. Name Montgomery as the prior institution and Goode as the possible processing point. An electronic copy and a fee ceiling can keep the request focused. JSO publishes no fixed price for every release record and no guaranteed response time.
CORE is the separate legal-history source. Match the JSO case number and look for the judgment, county sentence, days counted from prior custody, order, or state commitment. Montgomery and CTC Releases Differ
Duval's three adult county institutions share JSO but do not share the same exit instructions. Goode is the intake jail and the processing point for sentenced people transported from Montgomery. JSO says sentenced people at the Community Transition Center are released from CTC itself. Calling every site “the jail” can send a family to the wrong place.
The contrast also helps identify the record. Montgomery and CTC both use JSO history, but the physical release site depends on where the person was sentenced and housed. Montgomery Release Site Planning
Jacksonville City Council's facility study considered the future of the downtown jail and other primary JSO facilities after finding that existing sites exceeded their useful life. Its work addressed relocation, cost, health care, and operations. The study does not prove that Montgomery's process changed or that a replacement facility opened.
Use current JSO addresses and instructions. Montgomery remains listed at Lannie Road, and JSO's published rule still sends sentenced people to the jail for release. A proposal does not change the releasing institution, phone route, or official booking record.
